Security update: All Skyrack servers are running patched PHP versions, protecting client sites against CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619.

PHP security update: your questions answered

Are Skyrack servers protected?

Yes. All Skyrack servers run CloudLinux and are running the latest patched PHP packages, protecting client sites against the two critical PHP vulnerabilities announced on 21 October 2026 (CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619).

Why does my site show an older PHP version number?

The PHP project fixed the vulnerabilities in PHP 8.5.12, 8.4.27, 8.3.36 and 8.2.35. Our servers use CloudLinux’s PHP builds, which carry the same fix as a backport and keep their own, lower version numbers.

For example, CloudLinux’s patched PHP 8.4 reports 8.4.26 rather than 8.4.27. A lower number does not mean your site is vulnerable.

What is backporting?

Backporting means taking a security fix from a newer release and applying it to the version already installed. The vulnerable code is fixed, but the version number stays the same. It is standard practice for enterprise Linux vendors, including CloudLinux, Red Hat and Debian.

What about older PHP versions, like 7.4 or 8.1?

The PHP project does not release updates for PHP 8.1 and older. CloudLinux provides patched builds of older PHP versions through its Hardened PHP service, so sites on those versions are covered too.

My security scanner says my PHP version is vulnerable

Many scanners judge only by the version number, so they cannot see backported fixes and report a false positive. The reliable check is the package changelog, which lists the CVE IDs that have been fixed. If you need confirmation for an audit or a client, open a support ticket.

Managed VPS FAQ

Questions we get asked

What does fully managed VPS hosting include?

Fully managed means our team handles software updates, 24/7 monitoring, hourly off-site backups and security patching, with help migrating your sites. Each plan includes WHM and cPanel and outbound mail filtering. You keep the control of a VPS without needing to administer the operating system yourself.

When do I need a VPS instead of shared hosting?

Move to a VPS when your site is slowing down on shared resources, when you run heavy applications or large databases, or when you host many sites for clients. A VPS gives you dedicated CPU, RAM and storage. Our VPS vs shared hosting guide covers the signs in more detail.

Where are the VPS servers located?

Servers are in a Sydney data centre, and Skyrack is Australian owned, with our team operating between Sydney and Adelaide. That keeps latency low for Australian visitors and your data in the country. Read more on our data centres page, and see our DNS network for how lookups are served nationwide.

Which VPS plan should I choose?

VPS 1 (4 vCPU, 4GB RAM, 50GB SSD, $199) suits small to medium sites. VPS 2 (8 vCPU, 8GB RAM, 100GB, $299) suits growing sites and stores. VPS 3 (16 vCPU, 16GB, 300GB, $499) suits busy sites and agencies. VPS 4 and VPS 5 are for large databases and demanding workloads. You can upgrade as you grow.

Will you migrate my sites to the VPS?

Yes. The Skyrack team migrates up to 20 existing cPanel accounts per calendar month for free, generally without downtime. We copy your sites, email and databases, test them on the new server and then guide the DNS switch. cPanel-to-cPanel migrations are free; ask us about other platforms. Whether you are coming from shared hosting or another VPS, start with our free migration service.

Do I get WHM and cPanel on a VPS?

Yes. WHM and cPanel are included on every VPS plan, so you can create cPanel accounts for each site or client and manage them separately. That makes a VPS a good fit for agencies hosting many sites. If you only need to resell hosting at smaller scale, see our reseller hosting plans.

Is a managed VPS affordable?

Managed VPS plans run from $199 to $1,399 a month. That is more than shared hosting because you get dedicated resources and the management is included: our team handles software updates, monitoring, backups and security patching. We invest heavily in the platform so that fewer problems reach you or us, which keeps our running costs down and is reflected in the price. If your site is small, WordPress hosting from $4.98 a month is usually the better value. Move to a VPS when you need the extra resources.

What uptime do you guarantee?

Our service level agreement sets a guaranteed uptime of 99% each month for VPS hosting, and the full terms are on our service level agreement page. You can check how our services are running at any time on our public status page. Servers use Enterprise SSD storage with hourly off-site backups as a safety net. There are no lock-in contracts, so you can review the service for yourself without being tied in.

Can I get a refund if it is not right for me?

If you ask within 30 days of placing your order, we refund your hosting payment in full to your original payment method. Request it by opening a ticket with our Accounts and Billing department. The refund covers VPS hosting plans; domain names, SSL certificates and licences are not refundable. Refunds are subject to approval under our terms of service.
